Education Programs

Women’s rights in Canada are not achieved only through court action.  Just as important is the need to build knowledge among women, girls and others, about substantive equality rights as they apply to everyday life.

LEAF’s most current educational programs and materials have been organized into four key themes. Each includes an equality analysis by LEAF about key facts under the law related to that theme.  Within each theme there are topics of interest for particular audiences. For example, LEAF at Work offers youth the opportunity to study real-life scenarios and to be aware of equality issues they may encounter as they enter the workforce.  Materials on four key themes can be explored below.

LEAF and the Community

Many LEAF branches have active education and outreach programs. The volunteers of the LEAF branch nearest you can provide more information about potential activities in your community.  Our affiliate West Coast LEAF also offers educational resources to individuals and communities in British Columbia.

Visitors to this website can learn a lot by spending time exploring our media centre and law library.  Meanwhile LEAF’s 2010 case monitoring project Equality Rights Central is placing the latest news, cases and trends related to equality and discrimination at your fingertips.

Our Speakers’ Bureau is yet another way LEAF is providing Canadians to learn more about substantive equality as it relates to women and girls and how we can work together to create a Canada free of discrimination.
