The Board of Directors of WCLEAF proudly announce dthe appointment of Kasari Govender as the new Executive Director for the organization effective April 8, 2011.
Kasari is promoted from the position of Legal Director and we are very confident in her ability to lead us for the years to come.
In addition to her knowledge and expertise of our strategic litigation program, Kasari also brings an understanding of our public legal education mandate, our commitment to equality, and our law reform work.
Her promotion comes with the support of our wonderful staff. Kasari has been one of our key public speakers and media contacts, and she is fully immersed in our high profile intervention on the Polygamy reference.

She earned her degree in law from the University of Victoria, and her Master’s Degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford. Kasari has worked on children’s rights, equality for Aboriginal women and prisoners’ rights cases.
LEAF National congratulate West Coast LEAF and sends all good wishes to departing ED, Alison Brewin as she embarks on her new consulting business.
