In June 1990, LEAF filed a submission with the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Response of the Newfoundland Criminal Justice System to Complainants (the Hughes Commission).
LEAF’s submission argued that the systemic lack of responsiveness to child abuse in particular instances reflected the system’s inadequate response to allegations by women and children of violence against them more broadly.
