The dedicated work of our volunteers across the country is central to LEAF’s success. Volunteers govern the organization, serve on active committees, run our branches, help refine LEAF’s legal arguments, and act as counsel in LEAF interventions before the Supreme Court of Canada and other appellate courts. Volunteers also support LEAF’s annual events and play a crucial role in raising funds. There are many ways for members and friends of LEAF to get involved. FR
Please note that as a small organization, we do not always have the capacity to take on volunteers, and it may take up to 1 week to respond to your inquiry.
A gift to LEAF will help advance substantive gender equality rights in Canada through litigation, law reform and public education.
LEAF branches run public education programs for youth, hold events on gender equality in their communities, and engage in law reform initiatives at the local level.

LEAF relies on lawyers to volunteer their time and skills to complete research assignments, serve on the Law Program Committee, and to represent LEAF in court. Become a LEAF pro-bono lawyer and be a part of history – work with top feminist legal thinkers on cutting edge feminist law cases that advance equality for women.
Pro Bono Lawyers
“The chance to work with LEAF’s brilliant case committee members in developing LEAF’s arguments in these cases has provided us with a unique opportunity to be mentored by leading feminist legal thinkers in Canada, and to push ourselves to be better advocates.”
Central to LEAF’s mandate as a national, equality rights organization is our commitment to collaboration and consultation with others. LEAF is proud to ally with community partners to share knowledge and skills, and to create powerful coalitions that have a far greater impact than one organization could on its own. There are many ways to partner with LEAF, including: sitting on a case committee, jointly intervening in litigation or law reform submissions, or co-hosting an event. Through its community collaborations, LEAF listens to and learns from the intersectional knowledge of those facing gender discrimination and responds to the priorities raised by these organizations. Become a LEAF community partner and help advance gender equality through law.

“Partnering allows us to each contribute our unique skill sets and expertise to improving how the legal system responds to gender-based violence. Put simply, together we can increase our impact, and increase access to justice for women and girls.”
