Mother’s Day is a day to honour a very important woman in your life. Mother’s Day is also a perfect time to celebrate the rights women and girls have gained and support the work for equality that is still to come. LEAF invites you to honour a special woman in your life by donating to LEAF in her name.
Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis began the celebration of Mother’s Day in 1908. After one celebration, she began a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a holiday in the United States and in 1914 she succeeded. A Mother’s Day holiday was later adopted by other countries, including Canada, where a gift or remembrance celebrating mothers is commonly observed.
Families come in many forms, and it can be difficult to find images that represent the women who have helped us to thrive. We’ve found a link that provides images for free, and we’re happy to share them with you here: mamasday.org. We hope you’ll enjoy these images, which celebrate the many ways the women in our lives help us thrive.
This Mother’s Day, consider making a donation to LEAF. Our mothers and many other women have fought for generations to achieve and protect equality rights for us all. This Mother’s Day, we hope you’ll consider making a donation to LEAF in the name of a woman who has had a positive influence in your life: mother, sister, aunt, friend, cousin, or mentor.
Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you for your support.
