About the Event:
On LEAF’s 35th anniversary LEAF Edmonton is hosting our annual general meeting, and this year will be a celebration of our achievements and contributions toward the substantive equality of women and girls.
Executive Committee Elections:
LEAF Edmonton’s AGM will take place in the first part of the evening. In addition to an update of local and national LEAF activities, we will elect LEAF Edmonton’s Executive Committee for 2020-2021.
To obtain further information about positions or to put forward your name or that of another nominee, please send an e-mail to [email protected]. Nominations may also be made at the AGM. To vote at the AGM or to join our Executive Committee, you must be a member. Please join, renew, or check your membership at Memberships page.
Film Screening:
The festivities will then commence with a showing of “Constitute! The Film,” which tells the story of the grass-roots mobilization of women to gain stronger equality provisions in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This resulted in stronger wording for s. 15 of the Charter and the inclusion of s. 28 in the Charter. That activism in turn inspired the creation of LEAF. A celebratory reception follows–so find a flux capacitator, wear your raspberry beret, walk on sunshine, remember oranges are not the only fruit, and party like it’s 1985.
Our AGMs offer a fantastic opportunity for stimulating feminist conversation, friendship, and, of course, refreshments.
Register to attend:
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to LEAF Edmonton by registering on our event page by April 10, 2020.
