The Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) would like to warmly welcome Karen Segal as LEAF’s new Staff Lawyer. Karen joins LEAF with a longstanding commitment to feminism, equality, and social justice.
About Karen Segal
Prior to joining LEAF, Karen practiced as counsel to the Ontario Nurses’ Association and at a prominent labour and human rights law firm. She has advocated for equality and women’s rights in the workplace, addressing sexual harassment, pregnancy accommodation, and accommodation of physical and psychological disabilities, among other issues. A graduate of UBC’s Allard School of Law, Karen has volunteered with community-based groups in British Columbia and Ontario, engaging in women’s equality issues such as sexual assault and intimate partner violence.
Karen is particularly excited to join LEAF’s legal team and advocate for women’s equality through law, stating:
“I have long admired LEAF’s work and I look forward to working with other feminist advocates to continue LEAF’s mission of advancing women’s equality across Canada.”
You can contact Karen by phone at 416-595-7170, ext. 226 or by email at [email protected]
